We like to be the bridge between your ship and your bank.

introduction

BHS offers commercial management for large tankers and dry bulk carriers, with emphasis on arranging back-haul voyages. To maximize revenue, ballast trips will be kept to a minimum. For example, a VLCC needs to load a cargo of crude oil in the Arabian Gulf (AG) for the US Gulf, or Europe. After discharge she steams back empty to the AG. Another ship leaves the Far East empty to load a cargo of crude oil in West Africa for China. Both vessels operate 50% in ballast. Our chartering specialists will combine the two trips with two cargoes instead of one per (extended) roundtrip. This greatly enhances revenue.

Mr. Don Dykstra, mgn. dir. of BHS has successfully operated Suezmax OBOs for own account as time-chartered and as bareboat chartered owner. All commercial management was performed in-house. He is the author of: COMMERCIAL MANAGEMENT IN SHIPPING; published by the Nautical Institute in London. The book contains many cost-saving and revenue enhancing strategies and has been selected by several universities that teach courses in ocean shipping economics. For more information see under: PUBLICATION.

BHS has an extensive database with over 200,000 reported dry-bulk and tanker fixtures. By sorting the database in different ways, we can gain detailed insight in the ocean freight markets: what cargoes are being shipped, in what size vessel, by what charterer, from what load port to what discharge port, parcel size and freight rate. Since the information is up-to-date, we always have the latest freight rates on hand.

We will be glad to offer (free of charge) a brief analysis of the back-haul opportunities for particular dry bulk or tank vessels of your company.
